Many thanks for the invitation to attend the American Inns of Court Celebration of Excellence on October 25th, and congratulations on your receipt of the Justice Lewis F. Powell Award for Professionalism and Ethics. I very much wish that I could attend, but unfortunately I have a conflicting obligation that evening. On that day, I will be in New Haven for an event at Yale Law School with Justices Thomas and Sotomayor.

I am sorry that I will not be there for the awards, but I trust that the evening will, as always, be a memorable one.
