I understand that you are completing your second term as President of the American Inns of Court Foundation. I have been privileged to see you in your capacity as President of that Board several times. The Board has accomplished a great deal under your leadership. I don’t see how anyone could have done a better job than you.I was present at the beginning of the establishment of the American Inns of Court by Chief Justice Warren Burger and have been privileged to see it evolve to its present widespread and successful effort. Your leadership and direction have been vital and I congratulate you, most warmly, on all that you have done for that movement which has improved the professionalism of lawyers in this country and has contributed greatly to the betterment of our profession.
With warmest wishes and appreciation.
Sincerely,
SandraSandra Day O’Connor

Thanks for your letter and the clippings about Roxana. I talked to Adrienne this week. Her mother was a fine woman. Wish I could be present on Saturday at the Inns of Court dinner. Poor planning on my part.
All the best,

Dear Randy:
Thanks for your letter advising me of the 2002 O’Connor Award plans on October 19. Unfortunately, that is the date of my 50th Law School reunion at Stanford. I have already agreed to be part of the program there.
I look forward to learning about Dave Harrington and hope you will extend my congratulations to her and my regrets that I cannot be present when she receives the award.
All the best,
